Happily Cruising
36 × 36 mixed media on wood panel. Media include acrylic paint and oil stick.
Working over a previous painting, excitement was added with the fluorescent magenta and the patterns. As summer nears its end, I’ve still been working with hot colours and enjoying them.
I am following along in a book by @janedaviesart who does amazing collages and has good advice on composition and colour. I'm using her book for inspiration.
I am always a little impatient though, so rather than doing numerous small exercises to warm up, I applied the patterns straight onto a large piece. I was pouring through my old supplies of items that can be used to make shapes. It seems that I am still loving the fluorescents and my circles. This is a time for playing and exploring, to see if a new series emerges. I tend to be a painter who just likes to get started, to trust my gut and rely on a method of trial and error.
