SHOW TIME ….
I haven’t made it to the studio lately, partly as I spent one week in Antigua, but also because the other tasks related to having an art practice have been in the forefront lately.
Today, I am doing some marketing for the Artist Project. This is the biggest show that I am in all year and it offers opportunities to see and be seen by many art lovers who come to check out new work and also to be “discovered” by galleries looking for emerging artists of note. This is always the dream.
I am looking forward to connecting with the other artists. We tend to work solo, so it is very nice to connect with others and find out how they have been doing. This year we will be at the Enercare Centre, not the Better Living Building, so it will be a new experience. Each year it is nerve wracking before I get there, but once the work is up, the fun begins. Opening night is Thursday, March 26 and the show continues until Sunday evening March 29.
This week I am featuring two pieces that work together. Their red and blue colours influenced the names. I reached out to my followers for help with naming and was told the colours are those of the french flag, so they are called Le Bistrot and Les Fleurs. They are created over a base layer of collage, then painted over and some marks have been made with graphite. They are framed in white floater frames from Day and Night Woodworking in Toronto.
If you are interested in purchasing them before the show, please send me an email to receive a $75 discount on each and two free tickets to the show. This offer is only made to subscribers as a thank you.
Next week, tickets will be offered to the first people to reply to my newsletter.
